(H)EPA filter installation for single-wall systems? Is that possible?
(H)EPA filter systems from EMW® our gas turbines from damage such as fouling, and corrosion caused by particles. Our E12 (H)EPA filters remove over 99.5% of even the smallest microparticles. In addition to these key benefits, EMW®'s (H)EPA filters also achieve extended service life. This is due to the specific pre-filtration, which is adapted to the local conditions, the filter house, and the operation of the gas turbines.
All well and good, but how can this be achieved in a filter house with a single-wall system? A HEPA filter installation requires strong pre-filtration. However, many filter houses do not have the space for more than two filter stages. Is it still possible to have a (H)EPA filter installation with a single-wall system, and can the pressure drop of the filter system still be kept low?
The answer is a resounding YES!
All it takes is a sophisticated system. EMW® introduces the new Triple-X system. It consists of three filter stages and, in addition to an (H)EPA filter, also includes a highly efficient pre-filter.
The pre-filter, specially developed for this system, is a Z-Line GT series panel filter in the ISO coarse filter class to ISO 16890 (formerly G4 to EN 779). The water-repellent filter media is firmly integrated into the plastic frame. Stabilisers protect the aerodynamic pleat geometry of the media to achieve a low pressure drop during operation. The continuous seal ensures a leak-free seal with the downstream air filter of the Triple-X system. The Z-Line GT panel filter is fitted using an innovative tool-less mounting system, allowing the pre-filter to be accurately fitted in a matter of seconds.
The second stage consists of a minipleat filter box. The innovative minipleat technology with hot-melt pleat fixation ensures optimum utilisation of the filter area while maximising the stability of the pleat geometry during operation.
The minipleat filter box provides optimum protection for the downstream (H)EPA filter solution of the Triple-X system. As a result, pressure drop during operation is minimised, extending the life of the filter system.
The filter box is also easy to install. For installation, the head frame of the filter box is designed to fit perfectly with the head frame of the final (H)EPA filter. This is because the head frame of the filter box and the final (H)EPA compact filter are designed to fit perfectly into each other without leaks, so that both elements can be easily mounted together on the filter wall.
Finally, the (H)EPA filter is used in the Triple-X system. This filter stage separates the smallest microparticles in the sub-micron range. The gas turbine and its operation can benefit from the improved air quality in many ways:
Triple-X System E11 | Triple-X System E12 |
|
Filter Class | ISO Coarse + ISO ePM1 + E11 | ISO Coarse + ISO ePM1 + E12 |
Pressure Drop at 3400m³/h | 338 Pa | 411 Pa |
The use of an (H)EPA filter system pays for itself in a very short time, as the pictures of the compressor area show. With the new Triple-X system from EMW, an (H)EPA system can now also be installed in filter houses with a single-wall system, without having to sacrifice a stable pressure drop curve.
Your gas turbine will thank you with increased MW output and reduced fuel consumption.
